This home is absolutely gorgeous! The hosts, Sanda and her husband, were so lovely — I can’t say enough good things about them. The house is spacious, beautifully decorated, and features stunning antique windows, doors, and artwork. The garden and pool area in the back are peaceful and inviting — we enjoyed having coffee and breakfast there every morning while watching hummingbirds and parrots visit!
There’s a small convenience store literally next door, and the neighborhood feels safe, walkable, and very convenient. The home is fully outfitted with everything you could possibly need and more. Only the bedrooms are air-conditioned, so we spent less time in the common areas during the afternoons, but that was a small tradeoff for such a lovely stay.
We had a wonderful time at Casa Blanca — highly recommended!

Casablanca is stunning–worthy of a spread in Architectural Digest with high ceilings,tall wooden doors,patterned tile floors,antique carpets and furniture– all further enlivened by Steve’s vibrant oil paintings.
On our arrival Sanda and Steve were outside to greet us. The welcome was extended by the provision of fresh fruit, vegetables,eggs,bread, milk,wine–a bounty of goodies. Relaxing in the pool in the serene garden was so delightful. Thank you Steve and Sanda for sharing the paradise of Casablanca with us!

Casablanca is not just a place to stay, it’s an experience. The hosts, Sanda & Steve are fabulous! Super friendly and were very responsive to our needs. We didn’t realize that the A/C was only in the bedrooms. Sanda immediately brought over a floor fan to make sure we were comfortable. The kitchen was thoughtly stocked with everything you need to get started – this is real luxury! The house is wonderful. The back courtyard and pool area are beautifully curated – a really oasis from the rest of life. Steve even created a 4 hr play list of music to listen to in the house. Best of all, they sent the music home with us on a travel stick💕. Now we think of the great times we had in Merida everytime we listen to it! It’s obvious that they care about those who rent their AirBB and go the extra mile to make you feel at home from nice soaps, shampoos, robes to a basket of the little things you may have forgotten to pack. Well done! Thank you both!

Sanda & Steve have created an oasis in Merida. An experience that matches the photos and the endless 5-star reviews. They’re terrific hosts and made the experience fantastic. Fridge was stocked with some essentials, they had a binder full of things to do in the area, and the house even has its own soundtrack that Steve lovingly curated — I know… everything is next level.
The house has plenty of space and just about everything you could possibly want. Days were spent under the shade by the pool which was a welcome respite from the heat of Merida.
The lighting, the decoration, the overall experience was just perfect from start to finish. Casbalanca is an absolute gem and, should you be lucky enough to stay here, you’ll get a chance to see for yourself. We’re already planning our next trip back!

We had the best time staying here! We came during a small heatwave so it was pretty hot, but the air conditioning in the bedrooms really helped at night. The air conditioner in the master bedroom was out the first night but as soon as we said something, it was fixed. The garden is gorgeous and the pool is a must. We did try a few restaurant recommendations from Steve and Sanda and they were all amazing. They were probably the friendliest hosts I have ever had through AirBnB.

Steve and Sanda’s home is a wonderful find. The garden/pool area is a fantastic place to relax, and the indoor spaces are are beautifully appointed. I’ll admit that we were slightly skeptical of the hanging beds at first, but we found them to be exactly what we needed to get a good night’s rest.
The home is in a quiet section of Merida, but a short walk (10-15 min) from livelier areas (including downtown).
We would gladly stay here again!

For context, we live in Houston Texas, so humidity & temperature were the same for us and we’re exposed a lot to the Spanish language. We’re a very short 2-hour flight away and spent 6 days at the house. Uber is an extremely cost effective must if your Spanish is rusty and like to have a few drinks. We met some of the most incredible Uber drivers, so don’t rent a car even if your husband wants to. So, Husband listen to your wife – (said Husband), especially if you become “amante del mezcal”….
Find a bilingual speaking tour guide for outside of the city trips, there are tons there and pay the rate, it’s worth it for the extras you may get. The hosts have tons of contacts…
We had a very rough first half of the year and needed to unplug to recharge our soul batteries – Casablanca Living is exactly what we both needed and an unforgettable experience.

Wow, not even sure where to begin. Steve and Sanda are probably the nicest people I’ve ever met and their hospitality and graciousness shone through before you even arrived at the house. Their communication was great and their help was above and beyond. You felt welcomed the moment you got off the plane. Check-in and check-out was perfect, they were most accommodating and had amazing advice and opinions on things to do, where to eat, etc. Their recommendations were top notch and would highly recommend them/their place every chance you’re in Merida. The house and pool was sublime and probably one of the safest, cleanest and nicest homes I’ve ever stayed at. It literally felt like home, especially with them as hosts! It was clean, well maintained and easy to operate. The pool was an amazing touch, especially with the heat in Merida at this time of year. I highly recommend Steve and Sanda as well as staying at this property, you will not want to leave I promise! The home and hosts of a lifetime and highly recommend this place! Outstanding, dreamy experience!
Where do I begin? I’m still reveling in the Casablanca experience as I write. Beyond the gorgeous property, stunning artwork, museum-like interiors and Garden of Eden outdoor space, Sanda and Steve truly made our stay so very special.
Prepare to fall in love with this property. When we weren’t running around the Yucatan visiting the plethora of ruins, haciendas, cenotes, beach and beautiful downtown Merida, we adored being “home” at Casablanca.
Steve setup the projection camera for our Casablanca movie experience. What a space to watch this film. Wow. Loved that.
We spent our mornings and evenings in the refreshing, soothing pool watching the various bird life enjoy our space too.

We loved every minute of our stay at Casablanca. Everything was as described and in fact, the home exceeded expectations. This was our family’s first trip to Mérida and we are so fortunate that we chose Steve and Sanda’s home for our vacation. There was much to love: the lush backyard pool oasis, soaring ceilings, high-end finishes, gorgeous art work, and every necessity in-between —the home provided the perfect resting place after our busy days visiting the surrounding sites in and around Mérida. If I could give Steve and Sanda, and this magical home, 20 out of 10 stars I would. The reviews are real – this home is not to be missed. It’s an absolute paradise and Steve and Sanda have not overlooked a single detail – everything about the property is so thoughtful – it makes for the perfect stay. We barely left the house – it was perfect – there was no need to! WiFi is strong and works well for multiple people to work remotely. We are counting the days until we can come back, and sending all of our friends and family in the meantime!

In the 20 years I’ve been staying at Airbnbs around the world, this property tops them all! It is literally a work of art. Each room expertly designed and elegantly connects to the next with both form and function, which only an artist and perfectionist could imagine. Everything makes sense. That’s Steve! Nearly all of the art in the home were his creations. I want a home just like it!
As host, Steve was incredible. We didn’t want for anything. Beyond being a really lovely person, he gave us a thorough tour of the property, which we appreciated. He is a wealth of information on Merida, the surrounding area and the best cuisine options (for which there are many) from a former chef’s perspective.
You must stay at this property. It’s Merida meets the South of France or Tuscany. Located on a quiet street, it is in the center of it all.

This is a beautiful villa well-located in a quiet part of Merida not far from the downtown.
The house is spacious and comfortable, with a large sitting area at the front; a second hallway sitting area in the center; a large well-equipped kitchen; lovely outdoor seating on tiled, grassy, and poolside surfaces, a gorgeous fresh well-lit pool with hammock; and beautiful fruit trees. It easily hosts 6 people in gracious fashion.
There are three bedrooms. The master suite has a private entrance, en suite bathroom, gorgeous bathtub, and outdoor access. The two other rooms have suspended beds (a bit challenging for bedtime reading, but otherwise very comfortable). One has an en suite bathroom; the other uses a bath down the hall. All are elegantly furnished and tastefully decorated.
Steve and Sanda, the hosts, have created this house as a labor of love. Every detail is thought through, and their artistic sensibility is evident throughout. A wonderful rental in every way!

We loved every minute of our stay at casa Blanca, from relaxing poolside and enjoying margaritas in the garden to cuddling up on the couch and watching movies on the projector. While there’s so much to see and do in Merida, you’d be just as content spending your days in the zen of the house. Both Sanda and Steve were incredibly gracious hosts, offering us plenty of tips on how best to experience Merida and the surrounding area, and they were always quick to respond to our questions and anticipate our needs in advance. It was hard for us to leave but well most certainly be returning soon if they’ll have us again!

The market is just five minutes walk from the house and opens by 7am.. Be aware that some stands at Santiago close by 2pm and no alcohol is sold after 4pm Sundays. This was our very first Air B&B rental and I am already thinking of a return visit to Casablanca Living!!
The house is just superb!! Three bedrooms with two hanging beds which are so much fun!! I am tempted to book ahead very soon!! OH, and I neglected to mention that the house is well stocked with the necessities so you do not have to rush out and shop for toilet paper or olive oil, or any of the basics, on your day of arrival!!

Sanda’s place is an amazing, fantastic oasis in the old, somewhat neglected part of Merida. The house and the gardens are superb –spacious, relaxing, artsy, authentic– even better than in the beautiful photos. Often, very late at night, we wished we could have stayed longer in the garden. It’s clear that the entire house and the garden are extremely well taken care of: everything is good shape. We walked to many of the restaurants and shops. Sanda and her husband Steve are truly superb hosts –very communicative, there if you need them, but otherwise respectful of your privacy. This is a true gem!

We arrived in Sanda and Steves home and were welcomed very nice. All the most necessary things were in the fridge and in the fruit basket. Both of them are very nice and take care in their property very well. We were 6 of us and everybody enjoyed. coming home after a long day out. We all would recommend the Hacienda Casablanca to other groups.

We were blown away by Sandas property the minute we walked in the door. The detail and cleanliness of the property was incredible. Each room has plenty of privacy from one other and the pool and courtyard is incredible. We will definitely be back. They were also very helpful with directions, local restaurants, etc.

This is the 2nd time we rent Sanda & Steve’s house. It’s an amazing property, better than in pictures and they are great hosts.
I really recommend anyone going to Merida to stay with them, Sanda was super fast in responding.

This is a jaw-droppingly gorgeous home. There is pride of ownership throughout and whatever happens behind the scenes to make the house picture-perfect is seamlessly invisible. The hands-on management by these loving owners shows in every amazing corner of this space, including in the unbelievable artwork. The house was honestly so stunning we really just wanted to hang out in it and forego the sightseeing entirely.

We loved Casablanca so much! Do not hesitate to book this JAW dropping gorgeous home. Set in the historic Centro, your are surround by lush gardens, mesmerizing pool, incredible art, & absolutely beautiful design. We just left , didn’t want to leave and are already planning another trip -for a much longer time! Sanda & Steve are so great, and what they have created is absolutely stunning & holds a special
Loveliness that is a rare find. We have visited Merida several times & have stayed in several beautiful homes, but this one takes (or rather gives) “the cake”.
Their thoughtful touches throughout, their attention to detail, their eye for gorgeous design…their beautiful art enveloping & enlivening us- (I wish we could have had time to visit their studio) The historic renovation is pristine.
They stocked the fridge for us with beautiful yogurt, eggs granola, fruit, coffee, waters, drinks, a beautiful bottle of wine- and they were at our disposal at a moments notice! (Not that you will need anything)
Steve has prepared the most thorough guide of area and home that I have ever seen & his playlist created just for Casablanca literally set the tone for chill out days by the pool, morning bird watching or garden yoga, zen meandering & prepping for afternoon cantinas & delicious (and cosmopolitan) dinner excursions! (Although That kitchen is prime for any gourmand!)
They also came and set up the projection TV for an evening movie night! (We even ordered uber-eats delivered right to our door!)
Seriously- this is the role model/cover home for all Airbnb’s!
We thank them so much for sharing it with us & will return to beautiful Merida & stunning Casablanca again when we can!

Really beautiful house. Looked just like the photos! Pool was much nicer and bigger than photos made it seem. Lots of everything you would need! Pots pans-glassware-towels etc. Awesome location and nice neighborhood! Really loved the private courtyard and spent every night outside!

This place is just perfect. The space is incredible! Every detail from Steve and Sanda’s beautiful art throughout to the attention in every detail to make our stay the best Airbnb experience we have had. The loveliest hosts, helpful, warm and charming. The space is just amazing! A perfect oasis in Merida – we had trouble leaving! I’m still dreaming about my hanging bed – I couldn’t recommend enough. We will be back!

Sanda and Steve’s house exceeded our expectations! We had an amazing time here and debated multiple times extending our trip to stay longer in their home. The photos don’t capture the full charm of this home it’s GORGEOUS! Three days in and we had barely left to visit Merida. We will absolutely be back with more friends/family.
Can’t think of enough things to say, Sanda + Steve’s hospitality was amazing – they welcomed us like family.

Casablanca exceeded every expectation we could have imagined!! Sanda and Steve were exceptional hosts who provided more than we could have asked for. Every detail of there place was pure perfection. Beyond clean and the amenities were spectacular. The art that adorned the walls should be hung in one of the Merida art galleries. This is most definitely a hidden gem in Merida and the place to stay. We will definitely be back for future visits and recommend friends and family and everyone to stay here. Pure perfection!!

As a long time Airbnb host myself, Sanda and Steve put me to shame!! They have thought of EVERYTHING and being guests of theirs was such a delight. They were extremely easy to communicate with and are available to provide insight and suggestions for anything you need. Their home is GORGEOUS. The pictures don’t even do the luxurious, unique and captivating, sanctuary they have created justice. My only regret of our trip to Merida was being so busy with events and not having enough time to enjoy this beautiful home. I saw many beautiful homes in Merida where friends were also staying and this home stood out as such a mesmerizing, relaxing, COOL, and beautiful space. The location is great, very easy to get to anywhere in Merida quickly by walking or UBER which works fantastically throughout the city.
