Best Rental…ever!

A large, 3-bedroom home that has been restored to its colonial roots but with added, modern conveniences and wonderful pieces of art everywhere (our host is a local artist). The kitchen and eating area is fully stocked with all essentials. Drinking water is filtered and pure. The 3 bathrooms (2 en-suite) were large and beautiful. Bedrooms, again spacious with 2 beds suspended and large wardrobes. The master bedroom’s en-suite had a sunken tub as well as a separate shower. The outdoor area had sufficient, comfortable chairs, a walled garden, a cabana area, and a pool – simply gorgeous. Be sure to add insect repellent if enjoying evenings in the garden which we did every night. The situation in the Centro area of Merida is perfect. The local market is only 4 blocks away and the zocolo is about a 15 minute walk. Our hosts were across the street should we have any questions or requirements. They, Steve and Sanda, are remarkable Canadians who have made Merida their home. They provided a detailed book of information and instructions. They included walking maps for easy reference to the market, places of interest, ATMs, health clinics, etc. Kitchen and cleaning items were supplied and our hosts arranged for cleaners to come at the beginning of our second week to change sheets and supply new towels for the bathrooms and pools. As an added surprise, we had the kitchen stocked with coffee and other food items so that a trip to the market/supermarket was not needed on the day of arrival. While parking is not included, orange cones can be placed in front of the house and nobody takes up that spot!! This home comes with my highest recommendation.

Situated in the historic Centro of Merida, Casablanca is within walking distance of a local market, as well as the Grand Plaza (Zocalo) and Paseo de Montejo. The beds were comfortable although the 2 suspended beds might be a challenge for someone with vertigo. The kitchen is modern and well stocked with cookware, utensils, etc. The pool was a touch cool at this time of year but a welcome respite from the heat and humidity. Sanda and Steve are engaging and thoughtful and while they live right across the street they are respectful of their guests privacy.

“Gracious Hospitality in Merida” – Reviewed 3 days ago for a stay in March 2018
Recognizing that Casablanca was not inexpensive on Merida standards, we had high expectations. Steve and Sanda, the most accommodating hosts that we have ever encountered at house rentals during our extensive travels, made sure that they did everything to meet our high expectations. We were greeted by our hosts, upon arrival, and discovered they had already stocked the kitchen with enough necessities to see us through our first day and perhaps beyond. Thereafter, our high expectations led us to, almost daily, requesting items that we thought would enhance our visit, including such varied items as a microwave and additional cookware. Without exception, our numerous requests were always met with speed and a smile.
The hanging bed, suspended by ropes, may not be ideal for vertigo sufferers, but for us was an interesting novelty. And, the Netflix compatible projector surely made up for the lack of a TV. Casablanca was close to ample shopping and a pleasant stroll to Centro. We would certainly consider returning, if for no other reason, to enjoy Steve’s and Sanda’s gracious hospitality.

“Paradise in Merida” –

A beautiful home, exquisite and private outdoor living space, and attentive, responsive hosts. Simply put…a perfect retreat in the heart of Merida.
Sanda and Steve are lovely people and true professionals. Their property is maintained to the highest standards and it has all the amenities needed for a relaxing holiday. As hosts, they were available whenever we called upon them for advice regarding the city or questions regarding the house. This vacation was a “breeze”.
We would definitely return!

The location is perfect,so much to see and all within walking distance.
The house has everything one could hope for, beautifully furnished and a delightful garden with fruit tress and pool. The tasteful selection of music and movies just added to the magic. See you next year!

Sanda,Steve and the staff were very helpful from start to finish.
We absolutely loved the house and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends. It is a beautiful Colonial home, decorated to a high standard and offers total privacy.
This was our first visit to Mexico and were unsure what to expect. Merida is a fascinating, safe and friendly City and we will return soon, When we do we will return to Casablanca Living for sure.
Thanks again for sharing your superb home with us we cannot wait for the next visit.
